The YMCA of Regina purchased a former retail building in North-west Regina to serve as the first satellite facility to their downtown location. In late 2005 we were selected to design the facility to be constructed using the Construction Management method. Design and construction were fast-tracked and construction was completed in late 2006.
The facility was modeled after a Winnipeg YMCA facility within a former Canadian Tire Store and required removal of columns to suit the program of spaces. The fully accessible facility, meeting the family oriented mandate of the YMCA, includes the following:
- Two variable depth pools (the first in Saskatchewan) and a whirlpool.
- Conditioning Centre, Studio and Gymnasium.
- Youth program area including a large Playstructure.
- Change rooms for males, females, and families.
