The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) tasked SEPW with creating a new transit terminal and corporate office in Regina. A bold new, first impression of the City for STC’s customers.
The building accommodates STC’s Parcel Express service, food services, indoor bus loading areas, head office space for STC employees, and a large customer waiting area. The complex program and disparate uses throughout the building created challenges for the structural system, fire separations, and circulation.
The chosen site presented numerous challenges as well. There was insufficient site area to accommodate the building and the western elliptical office tower was constructed over an existing laneway. The brown field site required substantial remediation.
Built for future flexibility, the western office tower was designed to accommodate two additional floors.
Energy efficiency was a major consideration in the building’s design. Through special attention to the building envelope and the design of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems, the resultant design surpassed the Canadian Building Incentive Program (CBIP) standard for energy efficiency. |
