The renovation of the downtown YMCA has two distinct parts; renovations of the lobby and Mens' Plus locker room.

To simplify and enhance traffic flow and security within the existing facility, a complete redesign of the main lobby was required. the Conditioning Centre on the second floor of the building was only accessible through a stair and elevator which were outside the secure, members-only part of the building. This required arriving members to pass the front desk to access the locker rooms, then again pass the front desk to access the Conditioning Centre, leading to traffic congestion and concerns over security. To simplify this a new stair was designed to provide second storey access from within the secure portion of the building. The lobby area was reworked to also include meeting and workrooms spaces as well as a servery and dining area.

The second portion of the project was a complete renovation and refresh of the existing Mens' Plus locker room. This included all new finishes and new lockers. The shower, steam, and whirlpool area also feature new upgraded finishes. There are also lounge and massage room facilities provided in the new design.

Numerous upgrades to the existing building's mechanical and electrical systems were also required as part of this project.
