The Wascana Centre 1999 Master Plan and the U of R Campus Plan for Long Range Development form the contextual basis for this major planning study.
Incorporating mainly architectural planning and landscape architectural services, the study adopts the principles of the Long Range Development Plan and focuses on a detailed land use plan, potential areas for new buildings, their use, form, area, volume, scale, and appearance and the design of the landscaped space between buildings.
The study also features a major east/west landscaped pedestrian route through the Campus, connecting the Academic Green with a new gateway building to the west, and the proposed new SIFC building to the east. This “pedestrian” route must be shared with access for emergency vehicles and some service vehicles, providing a design challenge of opposing uses.
The study will assist the U of R in planning for future development and enable a quick reaction to any opportunity of development funding. |
