The R.C.M.P. Drill Hall was originally built as a Riding Academy. Over the years renovations had taken place that had concealed some of the building's original features. Renovations completed in 2009 included the removal of the dropped insulated ceiling at the underside of the trusses thereby re-exposing the steel trusses and reinstating the original volume of interior space.

The underside of the existing wood and roof deck were insulated using spray-applied polyurethane insulation to provide both thermal, and air-barrier, then finished with fire-rated drywall. Sound attenuation was needed to reduce reverberation for the variety of functions the building serves. This was provided by integrating fabric-covered sound absorption panels between trusses. The hardwood flooring was replaced using a non-resilient system for drill practice. New bleacher seating was added to replace old ones, and new fiberglass windows resembling the pattern of the original steel frame windows were installed.
